SkinMedica Chemical Peels

SkinMedica Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are fantastic ways to heighten your skin’s health by removing damaged outer layer cells. New skin cells emerge naturally and with a glowing appearance after a chemical peel. SkinMedica Chemical peels remove the dead and dull top layer of skin cells and reveal the smoother, younger, and the brighter layer of skin cells lying beneath the top layer of your skin. Skin peels also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, pigmentation, and acne or injury scars.

SkinMedica peels are offered to our patients to improve mild to severe skin imperfections with minimal downtime. Every SkinMedica peel can be applied to all skin types and colors.
Most peels can produce results after just one application, although a series of 3-6 peels is recommended for optimal results. It takes about 20 minutes for a chemical peel to be applied, and SkinMedica peels are well tolerated.

FAQs

Chemical Peels include Illuminize, which is the lightest peel. You can also request Vitalize Peel, which removes mild to moderate skin imperfections, or Rejuvenize Peel, which decreases the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation.

Most light to medium peels use salicylic acid, which has a low risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Glycolic acid is also an ingredient that is a type of alpha-hydroxy acid that
comes from sugarcane.

You may also see lactic acid in your peel, trichloroacetic acid, and phytic acid. Ask your skin care professional about the ingredients in your chosen peel.

It is recommended that you repeat a chemical peel every 3-4 weeks if it is a mild to medium peel or every 4-6 weeks if it is a stronger peel.

Chemical peels correct uneven skin tone, fade dark spots, treat fine lines and wrinkles, and treat acne scars. They can also treat skin conditions like melasma.
